Mohammad Kossari, deputy head of parliament's foreign affairs and national security committee, issued the warning in respone to a decision by the European Union on Monday to impose an oil embargo on Iran over the country’s alleged nuclear weapons program.
“The pressure of sanctions is designed to try and make sure that Iran takes seriously our request to come to the table,” EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton said.
However, with Washington’s decision to deploy a second carrier strike group in the Gulf, the EU’s attempt to pressure Iran economically could greatly increase the likelihood of all-out war in the region.

US aircraft carriers to deliver 'direct message to Iran'

In an apparent show of strength, Washington is deploying a second carrier strike group in the Gulf. US officials also confirmed their commitment to maintaining a global fleet of 11 aircraft carriers despite budget pressure to cut the fleet's size.

“That’s the reason we maintain a presence in the Middle East,” AP cited US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, as saying in a speech to about 1,700 sailors aboard the USS Enterprise. “We want them to know that we are fully prepared to deal with any contingency and it’s better for them to try to deal with us through diplomacy.”
Panetta added that the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise is on course for the Persian Gulf – and will steam through the Strait of Hormuz in a direct message to Iran, AP reports.
"We'll continue to make those messages clear. The most important way to make those messages clear is to show that we are prepared, that we are strong, that we'll have a presence in that part of the world," Panetta added.
The USS Enterprise, along with the other six ships in the carrier strike group, will deploy to the Middle East in March. It means the US will maintain two carrier strike groups in the Persian Gulf region. The warships are expected to support the country’s battle operations in Afghanistan, its anti-piracy efforts and other missions.

The 9,000 US servicemen gathering in Israel in the coming weeks are mostly airmen, missile interceptor teams, marines, seamen, technicians and intelligence officers.
The incoming American soldiers are officially categorized as participants in Austere Challenge 12, the biggest joint US-Israeli war game ever held.
The maneuver was originally designated Juniper Stallion 2012. However, the altered name plus the comment heard from the exercise's commander, US Third Air Force Lt. Gen. Frank Gorenc, during his visit two weeks ago, that the coming event is more a "deployment" than an "exercise," confirmed that Washington has expanded its mission. The joint force will now be in place ready for a decision to attack Iran's nuclear installations or any war emergency.

In America today there is a notation of a man who died for equal rights, we could debate the parts of his character or the movement behind him but we cannot deny that his death has brought new freedom for so many.

Today however there needs to be a new out cry as the depression moves forward, that cry is for the poor and for those have lost everything and now reside in shelters, back allies, under bridges, and even squatting in expensive foreclosed homes. The Agencies and churches that care for these people, some who just too proud for welfare which is being overloaded, are themselves being overloaded because of the economy the donations have fell down to a trickle of what they were. Some though are still getting large donations but those donation are coming to very large agencies that have such a set of rules that it excludes many of the poor, how do I know, well this is our 12^th year of operation, we do not get food or help from any government agency and are not head and name counters like those that receive from the government.

We do not make ourselves a corporation so we please the federal government and make them the head of our Church as the head of the church is Yeshua not the state, read it, Google it, the head of any corp. is the state. We did not accept their number so we get our food for the people the Father sends us by paying full price or my wife hitting sales when she has the money. mostly we buy day by day as the Father provides for all and has for this our 12^th year.

As I opened the door today I heard the people saying “ The door’s open we are Home now” Home that is how they feel when they come into the Father’s house, Home, and not looked down on but at home…..they know that someday they will be in the Father's house as it holds a place for them, just as Messiah's Branch Mission Church is the Father's house and holds a place for them now. We pray that this expands so we can care for more as my heart cry's for them, but in the mean time, I am happy and do not murmur about what He provides and how He does so.

Today yes we are overcrowded, and while I have little as far as money goes by the end of the day the Father will have provided just what was needed, will he use you to do that?

The Venezuelan consul was implicated in an alleged plot to launch cyber attacks on U.S. nuclear power facilities. The decision was taken as a direct result of the revelations made by the documentary The Iranian Threat, aired by the U.S Spanish language channel Univision.
In the film, the Venezuelan consul was caught on camera backing Iranian-sponsored cyber-attack against U.S. targets in 2007, when she was vice-secretary in the Venezuelan Embassy in Mexico. According to the documentary, these cyber-attacks would be "worse than 9-11." The State Department did not want to comment on this decision. However, a U.S. high official stated that this expulsion is a serious issue, as "we do not take it lightly when we declare somebody persona non grata."

Voters in South Carolina – including the large numbers of evangelical Christians and Catholics there – are in the crosshairs of the GOP political campaigns right now, as they vote in about a week on their choice for their party’s nomination to run against Democrat Barack Obama this year.

And they are being asked by hundreds of Orthodox rabbis to think long and hard – and vote morality instead of flash and dash of politics or the economy.
“No country, no empire has historically lasted past a certain stage when it has become corrupt morally,” said Yehuda Levin, a rabbi who is a spokesman for the Rabbinical Alliance of America. The request is coming from the organization’s members, not the organization itself.

"There is a likelihood of military escalation of the conflict, and Israel is pushing the Americans towards it," Patrushev said in an interview published on the website of the daily Kommersant.
"There is a real danger of a US military strike on Iran," the senior Russian security official said.
"At present, the US sees Iran as its main problem. They are trying to turn Tehran from an enemy into a supportive partner, and to achieve this, to change the current regime by whatever means," he added.
"They use both economic embargo and massive help to the opposition forces."

A federal district court in Manhattan yesterday entered a historic ruling that reveals new facts about Iran's support of al Qaeda in the 9/11 attacks. U.S. District Judge George B. Daniels ruled yesterday that Iran and Hezbollah materially and directly supported al Qaeda in the September 11, 2001 attacks and are legally responsible for damages to hundreds of family members of 9/11 victims who are plaintiffs in the case.

Judge Daniels had announced his ruling in Havlish, et al. v. bin Laden, et al., in open court on Thursday, December 15, 2011, following a three-hour courtroom presentation by the families' attorneys. Judge Daniels entered a written Order of Judgment yesterday backed by 53 pages of detailed Findings of Fact and Conclusions of Law.
Fiona Havlish, whose husband Donald perished in the World Trade Center North Tower on 9/11 said, "This is a historic day. For ten years we've wanted the truth to be known about who was responsible for our losses. Now we have that answer."
Ellen Saracini, the wife of United Airlines 175 pilot Victor Saracini, which the hijackers crashed into the WTC South Tower, said after the hearing last Thursday, "We just came from Judge Daniels' court where he ruled in favor of holding accountable those who perpetrated the attacks of 9/11... I just smiled up to Victor and I said we're still thinking about you ... we're there for you ... we'll always be there for you. But today's very special."
In Havlish, et al. v. bin Laden, et al., Judge Daniels held that the Islamic Republic of Iran, its Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Hosseini Khamenei, former Iranian president Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, and Iran's agencies and instrumentalities, including, among others, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps ("IRGC"), the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence and Security ("MOIS"), and Iran's terrorist proxy Hezbollah, all materially aided and supported al Qaeda before and after 9/11.

Freedom of speech might allow journalists to get away with a lot in America, but the Department of Homeland Security is on the ready to make sure that the government is keeping dibs on who is saying what.
Under the National Operations Center (NOC)’s Media Monitoring Initiative that came out of DHS headquarters in November, Washington has the written permission to retain data on users of social media and online networking platforms.
Specifically, the DHS announced the NCO and its Office of Operations Coordination and Planning (OPS) can collect personal information from news anchors, journalists, reporters or anyone who may use “traditional and/or social media in real time to keep their audience situationally aware and informed.”
According to the Department of Homeland Security’s own definition of personal identifiable information, or PII, such data could consist of any intellect “that permits the identity of an individual to be directly or indirectly inferred, including any information which is linked or linkable to that individual.” Previously established guidelines within the administration say that data could only be collected under authorization set forth by written code, but the new provisions in the NOC’s write-up means that any reporter, whether someone along the lines of Walter Cronkite or a budding blogger, can be victimized by the agency.

Ignis US manager hails ‘staggering’ energy boom

A “staggering oil and gas boom” in the US will help the economy to rebound this year, according to Ignis Asset Management’s Terry Ewing.
The manager of the £88.5m Ignis American Growth fund made the claim in a forecast statement for 2012, in which he cites seven factors that he believes make the US a compelling investment this year.

“America stands on the verge of a major change that puts it on course to near energy self-sufficiency,” said Mr Ewing.
“The Gulf of Mexico is expected to produce almost three times as much oil by the end of the decade and North Dakota has experienced a staggering oil and gas boom that would qualify it as a member of OPEC.
“Add on efficiencies made in the last decade and the overall US imports of oil should drop from 9m barrels per day to 2m barrels per day within 6 or 7 years.”

On July 23, 2001, a former senior Iranian intelligence officer,Abolghasem Mr. Mesbahi,learned that Iran’s plan to strike the United States had been activated. Mr. Mesbahi knew it was important and real because he had worked on this plan previously, when he had helped set up Iran’s intelligence service, the MOIS, as far back as the mid-1980s. Mr. Mesbahi - known outside Iran as one of a core of “Assassins”- told German intelligence, which had given him protected status as a key witness in German prosecutions of brutal Iranian assassinations of dozens of dissidents.
On Aug. 13, 2001, Mr. Mesbahi received greater specificity as to the plot. The coded messages from former colleagues inside Iran revealed that the longtime plan to crash civilian airliners into American cities had been activated. Again, the officer told his German handlers, who responded that they would convey the information - we do not know if they did or to whom or exactly what information they might have passed on - and the Germans would let Mr. Mesbahi know if there were any developments. On Aug. 27, 2001, Mr. Mesbahi once more received confirmation that the plan was in motion, and the messages indicated a German connection. The 9/11 Commission would later confirm that key 9/11 liaison Ramzi Binalshibh and pilots Mohammad Atta and Ziad Jarrah were all German residents leading up to Sept. 11.
After Sept. 11, Mr. Mesbahi approached an American he knew was well-versed in Iranian affairs and told him of his foreknowledge of the Sept. 11 plan and how the plot to crash the then existing Boeing 747 aircraft into New York, Washington and Chicago had evolved in Iran years prior.
The Pentagon, White House and World Trade Center had been on the hit list. Back in the 1980s, Iran had decided, he said, that to defeat the United States, it needed to engage in asymmetric warfare

The U.S.-financed design of a more contagious avian flu virus strain has created the potential for sensitive findings from the research to be illicitly procured, the World Health Organization said in a statement on Friday (see GSN, Dec. 22, 2011).
A U.S. expert panel last month urged scientific teams at Erasmus University Medical Center in the Netherlands and the University of Wisconsin (Madison) to withhold certain data from separate studies that yielded versions of the virus more contagious among humans. The scientists who carried out the research agreed to hold back details of their work while going ahead with publishing the findings, according to previous reporting.
The World Health Organization is "deeply concerned about the potential negative consequences".

It was the second such warning in two days. On Tuesday, Vice President Mohamed Reza Rahimi threatened to close the strait, cutting off oil exports, if the West imposes sanctions on Iran's oil shipments.
In response, the Bahrain-based U.S. 5th Fleet's spokeswoman warned that any disruption "will not be tolerated." The spokeswoman, Lt. Rebecca Rebarich, said the U.S. Navy is "always ready to counter malevolent actions to ensure freedom of navigation."
